Fall Settings

See the texture dance across the landscape.
Brave softness brushed up
against wavy plumage.

The wave in the breeze of who
gets to stay after the freeze.
Yellow blazes warm
 the evening temp dips.

The dogwood sets
it's red leaves into the line up.

Idyllic setting from sister Lee Ann captures
the stillness of floating plain of yard-
 clinging to water's edge.

And I just might sit- gathered here-
to watch the slip of yellow to earth.
Winter's calling card another day closer.
But, yet, today- a deep breath of crinkled leaf
piles that halt the season trot.
Just a few minutes- please- right in this spot.
