Bible Marginalia- As Long as I Live

Bible Marginalia Series- #107

Psalm 104:34
I will sing to the Lord
as Long as I Live.
I will sing praise
 to my God while I
have my being.

Singing praise in my soul--
to my faithful God.
That's something to tell others.
That's something to write about.

Visiting with daughter Jessica-
she always has inspiring pages
 in her Bible.
This is a "copy" of this page
 in her Bible.
Fun to just see if I can recreate it.

Bible Marginalia- What does the Lord require?

Bible Marginalia Series-  #106

Looking in Micah for words
 of wisdom these days.
Where do we look for guidance?
We look to the LORD.

The world disappoints.
The Lord reigns.
We wait for the God
of our salvation.
 Micah 7:7
This is the other side of the 2 page layout.
Micah 6:8
I had already added the envelope wrap
and the stamp to the margin.
The rest sort of happened-
as I spent some time praying
these scripture verses-
 for my life-
 for our family,
for my country,
 for our world.

notes, and lettering

What does the Lord require of us?
Do Justice
 Love Kindness (mercy)
Walk Humbly
 with our GOD.

Think that works for our
marching orders.

Bible Marginalia-Spirit Intercede

Bible Marginalia Series- #105

Oh, how thankful
 I am when the Spirit
 intercedes for me in prayer.
 The Spirit :
helps us in our weakness,
intercedes for us with groanings
 too deep for words,
searches hearts,
and knows what is the mind of the Spirit.

For those who are called
 according to His purpose-
we know that for those who love God-
all things work together for GOOD.

Many prayer concerns these days-
 I cannot track them all.
May the Spirit intercede.

There is HOPE

When all the relationships feel
a bit mangled in our world,
I sometimes simply seek the sky.

For there you, oh, Lord, display
your majesty in all of its glory.

A visual reminder that you are still
 on your THRONE.
Humans have forgotten your place of honor
throughout all time.
Forgotten to heed your words and
place you at the helm of all decisions.
No law or strike of law
 displaces you from your throne.

And in a quiet whisper-
a quiet reminder-

and I am not.

Container Gardening

A look at some container gardens
 in our yard.
This year--
loving some hot pink Angelonia.
Trying a red tickseed coreopsis
This red angel wing begonia
 and sweet potato plant-
 I named her Greta.

New for me this year-
trying Gerbera daisy in a pot.

Calla lily in a pot.
 White mandevilla to climb,
 sweet potato vine,
and Tradescantia pallida-
Purple Heart.
 These pots take morning
and the late afternoon
brutal Virginia sun.
Some cleome giving height in a pot
 back by the garden shed.

In most of the pots
are bits and pieces of vintage dishes and
plates- just to add a touch of whimsy.
Just because I can't throw out the
broken and unwanted fragments.
So- my house has become
the drop off spot for a chipped or busted dish.
Still able to give delight-
even in the "not perfect"state.
A good reminder for an aging gardener-
the chips just may tell the story.

Mr Explorer

Mr. Griffin loves puddles.
They are great to splash in.
Even better yet----
put your hair in the puddle.

Time to chill- pool side.
Exploring getting
 in the BIG WATER.

And some times you have to stop
your around the world explorations
and TAKE a NAP.

Just so you are ready
 to head out again.
Want a ride?

Some times I see my garden
 in color families.
This week it has been PINK.

Maybe not dad's favorite color-
but a touch of it here on this fine
Father's Day.

Learning about THE WOLFPACK story

The photo I never expected to see-
the Reunion of the Reisenbichler Family.

Sometimes news just rocks your world.
And the story coming to light for me this week
 is THE WOLFPACK documentary
out in selected theaters this week.
The story also airs on 20/20 Friday-
June 19 at 10 pm EST.

Susie Resisenbichler Angulo
 was my growing up friend.
Her dad was my teacher at
Bethlehem Lutheran School,
Ossian Indiana.
Her dad taught with my faith-in-law-
 William Denninger.
We had many sleepovers
and knew each other's family well.
We were part of the same confirmation class-
 7 girls and 4 boys.

Susie had been estranged from her family
 since sometime in the 1980's.
Life choices led her
to a Hare Krishna connection.

Then the family lost track of her
and have lived the past 25 plus years
not knowing just what happened to her.
Then we learn about an amazing story
 of sheltering
 and skewed life living
 in New York City.
 Locked up in an apartment
with very little interaction in the real world,
 the children have survived
their personal life living by watching,
and staging the movies
that were their lens into the real world.

Now Susie and her six sons-
( she also has a daughter with Turner syndrome )
have become the center of publicity -
winning the Grand Jury Prize
at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival award.
The documentary of the story
of their lives was filmed
 over the past five years.

The very world they
 were to be protected from
has ironically become the center
of many of their daily interactions.

20/20 has joined to tell the story
of the family reunion in Michigan-
where siblings, aunts and uncles and cousins
meet the "lost family".
 A poignant and bittersweet
celebration reunion.

I hunt for more and more of the story-
trying to make sense of it all.
Seeking to find and tell the little band
of my 10 classmates
 from Bethlehem Lutheran School-
 "they found Susie".

So I will be wondering
about Susie and her family
and their hearts and lives and souls
as this story unfolds across the nation.

Susie Reisenbichler
(sorry about the screen shot images)

I remember making dandelion necklaces
in the back yard on the farm with Susie.
We talked boys, exploring the world,
and wondering where the call of adventure
might take us.
As we lost touch in the years,
she has often crossed my mind.
  I remember the fiercely independent
young woman who was gonna head
out to take on the world.
My prayer is that she remembers her roots-
her calling at Baptism,
the Lord who loves her deeply,
and has never stopped seeking HER
in relationship.

I give thanks for the deep love
that is easily seen with Susie
 and her children.
May her children
be richly blessed in their own burgeoning
 into a world larger
than their isolated growing up views.

Bible Marginalia- Engaged

Bible Marginalia Series- #104

The Parable of the 10 Minas
was the theme at the Florida - Georgia
District-LCMS convention this past week.

Key verse-
Luke 19:13
"Engage in business until I come."
Direct order.
No fooling around,
 or resting on laurels-
of a job well done in the past.
 No excuses-
of being too hard,
or we don't know how.
Be engaged.
Active tense.

Handing the work order to the servants.
Can't hang a "going out of business sign".
Or sell the business.
 It is a trust.
Entrusted to us.

Bible Marginalia- Give Grace

Bible Marginalia Series- #103

The section on the NEW LIFE in Christ.
Be renewed in the spirit of our minds.
 Put on the new self,
created after the likeness of God.
No corrupt talk.
Only what builds each other up.
Be kind, tenderhearted.
Forgive one another.

And in Ephesians 4:29-
Think I would like that
as my life motto.
Certainly will take the rest of my life
 to practice doing just that.

Simply done.

Bible Marginalia -Blessed

Bible Marginalia Series- #102

A page at the end of Proverbs 31.
the word that jumps out to me here is -

Blessed Beyond Measure in my Home.
Blessed by my husband and my children.

Because by the relationship I have in Jesus-
That affects all of my life.
That allows me to be His vessel.
Blessed to be a BLESSING.

Bible Marginalia- The Cornerstone

Bible Marginalia Series- #101

One in Christ.
Fellow Citizens.
Built on the foundation
of the apostles and prophets.
Jesus the Cornerstone.
AS we are being built
as the dwelling place for GOD-
the Holy Spirit.

An amazing thought in my day.
When an average day somehow seems
without any magnificent purpose-
it is redeemed with this simple statement.

God is NOT done with me yet.
He continues to build His dwelling space.

If we could only see each others
 as receptacles for
we might change the tone of our voice,
 our expectations,
and the honor due each and every one
 of His children.

An easy way to play with lettering
and not worry about what happens-
just start over.

Bible Marginalia- REST

Bible Marginalia Series #100

This page brings together the stories told of
"Woe to Unrepentant Cities"
"Come to Me and I will Give you Rest."

The first one shows Jesus telling the people of
 Chorizin, Bethsaida and Capernaum that
it will be worse for them than Sodom.
They have not believed the miracles
 that happened right there.
Right in the middle of it all
 and they did not repent.

Then right after this-
he gives thanks to His Father,
that He hid things from the wise,
and revealed them to the children.
And Jesus invites all to come to him,
 that they may find rest.
Learn from me- Jesus tells them.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Certainly a picture of some of the challenges
that Jesus had to face
in the days of his earthly living.
Jesus faced discouragement
 in his ministry life,
and prayed over hardened hearts,
that refused to see Him as Lord and Savior.
That is still our prayer in ministry life today.

Bible Marginalia- Gain and Forfeit

Bible Journaling Series  #99

A few years back I was doing a lot
of writing for some graduate work
and into the night would be the Toby Mac song
that was connected to this Bible verse.
  I don't think I can read this-
 without hearing that song.

And maybe that is important
that there is more than one sense
 connected to this verse-
that it doesn't slip into long lost memory,
or become covered up with the dregs
 of day to day living.
 This section comes when Jesus
is having the conversation with his disciples
 about taking up His cross.
Even now it serves as a a simple reminder--
that what the world says is gain-
may be the forfeit of our soul.
Lord, may you always help me
to keep the focus on the real worth in my life.

Creative Haven- Walking with the Lord

Creative Haven Gathering this morning.
Grandma Betty and her three daughters-
Jayne, Gayle and Stacey.
 And Stacey with her daughters-
 Ella and Ava.
 Three generations.
Creating a mini faithable booklet.

Tearing out the journal prompts
and edging with Distress ink.
Setting up the pages with
stamping, layers of paper,
and a doodad here and there.

Started with a blank booklet.
Paper-Mache-Accordian Book

Coordinating scrapbooking paper attached
 with double sided sticky tape.

Each station ready with covered booklet and
papers in a file folder.
Tape, Scissors, and a tag or two.

A place to tell the STORY.
of God's faithfulness to each of us.
A place to add the reflections.
The God intersections
in this life here on earth.
Knowing that each time family
 sets aside gathering time-
it moves the sacred
into the  breath of everyday.

And we find that a bit
of FAITH STORY living
transcends as gift into our memory.
Not meant to be complicated.
But a simple rendering of touching
 the meaning of
here and now.
And at the same time
the expectation of our eternal HOPE.

And we live till you bring
 us to completion,
 and we REMEMBER
(Washi tape and alphabet initials)

 The hands of Three generations
are meant to declare the
Glory gathered round.
Adding vintage buttons, ribbon
 and a flower or two.

And a 3 page handout- finished.
To take the TIME-
to mark this moment,
to give you praise,
in the journey.

And we know Lord,
that you have called your own-
Stacey Crosson
to serve you here in this place-
and declare you King of Kings-
from one generation to the next.
May the Lord bless you ALL.
